OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide the highest standard of patient care whilst incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness.

We are committed to promoting health, well-being and disease prevention to all patients. We do not discriminate in the provision of excellent care and aim to treat all patients with dignity and respect.

APPOINTMENTS

Please call 07 3889 0000 for an appointment during opening hours. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time.

Walk in appointments may be available, however priority will be given to those with appointments. Emergency appointments will be seen as soon as possible.

Please note that our normal appointments are 15 mins duration. Longer appointments are available for more complicated matters, procedures or if more than one person need to see the doctor. Please inform our receptionists at time of booking.

Appointments are required for prescriptions or referrals to ensure that all aspects of your health are taken into consideration.

FEES

MAT Health Clinic is a Private Billing Practice. A schedule of fees is available at reception. All concession card holders, DVA patients, children under 16 years of age are bulk billed.

You are requested to settle your account at the end of your consultation – we accept cash, credit card and EFTPOS. We are able to process your Medicare claim allowing you to receive your rebate immediately (provided your details are registered with Medicare)

WOUND DRESSING FEES

Wound dressings and the use of medical consumables supplied by the practice will attract an out-of-pocket expense for patients.

Please note that Medicare does not remunerate the practice for wound dressing supplies, however does cover the cost of the doctor’s consultation time. The practice cannot absorb the cost of these dressing if we are to continue to provide this as a part of our quality health care services. The out-of-pocket cost for wound dressings are as follows:

Small Dressing: $5.00
Large dressings: $10.00

Please note that all patients will be charged an out-of-pocket fee for wound dressings regardless of concessional status. Please speak to your doctor if you are experiencing financial hardship.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT HEALTH CHECKS

A Pre-Employment Medical is used as a tool to help assess if a potential employee is suitable for the position and the physical work environment of your business. It involves the new employee filling out a medical history questionnaire and then completing a medical examination, in the clinic.

Pre-Employment Medicals have a different Fees structure to Medicare related medical examinations and Medicare does not remunerate the practice for these services.

Pre – Employment Medical Fees are as follows:

Pre-Employment Medical:$ 220 
Breathalyzer (AlcoQuant): $ 48
Instant Drug: $ 70

MISSED APPOINTMENTS

As a courtesy to the doctor and other patients, please provide as much notice as possible (minimum of 2 hours) if you are unable to keep your appointment. Missed appointments may result in a fee.

TEST RESULTS, REFERRALS & REPEATS

In order to monitor your health and to satisfy our legal and ethical responsibilities, we will require that you attend your doctor or another doctor of the practice if your usual doctor is unavailable in order to receive results, or to obtain further prescriptions or referrals when needed. Such sensitive discussions can not generally be made over the phone.

Please note: Our non-medical (administration) staff are not permitted to discuss medical information with patients

REMINDER SYSTEM

Our practice is interested in promoting good health through preventative medicine, therefore we have a recall system. From time to time we may contact you offering preventive health services appropriate to your care. Please discuss this further with your Doctor if you have any queries about this system.

MEDICAL CERTIFICATES

Medical certificates are legal documents and are only available if you are present for your consultation with your doctor. The doctor is unable to issue medical certificates retrospectively.

TELEPHONING YOUR DOCTOR

Doctors within this practice may be contacted via phone during operating hours, a message will be taken and given to the doctor.

YOUR PRIVACY, OUR CONCERN

Your medical record is a confidential document. It is our policy to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised personnel.  A full copy of our privacy policy can be accessed by clicking here, or is available by request from reception.

The provision of quality health care requires a doctor-patient relationship of trust and confidentiality. Consistent with our commitment to quality care this practice has developed a policy to protect patient privacy in compliance with privacy legislation.

CAR PARKING & DISABILITY ACCESS

Access to the practice is via Gympie Road, we kindly request that you use this car park to avoid parking on the main road. This car park also has disability parking for those who require it.

DISABILITY FACILITIES

Our practice has been designed for wheelchair access. Should you have any special needs please discuss them with your Doctor.

ZERO TOLERANCE

This practice has a zero tolerance to violence in the workplace. All staff have the right to care for others without the fear of being abused or attacked. In order to achieve this, violent and aggressive behaviour against patients/clients, employees or members of the public will not be tolerated in any way. Violent, aggressive or abusive patients may be refused medical treatment, reported to the police and be taken off the GP’s treating list.
